Supporter Spotlight: Dr. Rafat Ansari

Rafat, MD, FACP, is a Medical Oncologist at Michiana Hematology Oncology Advanced Centers for Cancer Care. He joined MHO in 1980, when it was just a small oncology practice. Under his leadership, Michiana Hematology Oncology has grown into the largest independent network of cancer treatment in Northern Indiana.

Dr. Ansari is well-known for his passionate and laser-focused advocacy on behalf of his patients. His gentle and empathic nature, coupled with his skill and unyielding approach to cancer treatment, have earned him a reputation as a fighter for patients and their families. Those under his care value his honestly, integrity and compassion, often crediting his bedside manner as an integral part of their cancer journey.

Among his peers Dr. Ansari is a standard-bearer; deeply respected for his comprehensive dedication to oncology. As part of his commitment to advance the fight against cancer in this region, Dr. Ansari co-founded both the Hoosier Oncology Group (HOG) and the NICRC (Northern Indiana Cancer Research Consortium), two entities that promoted cancer research and clinical trials for safer, more effective treatment options.

"I come to work everyday with the intention of beating cancer," he says. "Telling a patient they are cured of cancer is a great feeling."
